Jeremy Medina Elected As New Football Brisbane Chairman
As per the Football Brisbane Constitution, the position of Chairman is up for re-election after each Annual General Meeting and is voted upon by the elected board members. At the first Football Brisbane board meeting of 2019, Director Mr. Jeremy Medina was elected as the new Chairman of the organisation, having served as Secretary of the Board in 2018. On his election, Mr. Medina said, "I'm privileged to have been elected as Chairman of the largest regional football zone in the country and look forward to working with the other members of the board and with our clubs to deliver the priorities as outlined in our recently published 2019-2023 Strategic Plan." He added, “It's important to myself and the board we deliver the best outcomes for our clubs and for our members, while ensuring our core business of competitions is administered to the highest possible standards. A very strong passion of mine is to reduce the costs of football for our participants. This will include lobbying government on behalf of our clubs to reduce running costs such as electricity, water and field maintenance as well as finding other opportunities to derive revenue from non-football income as we attempt to reduce the fees we currently charge our clubs, players and referees." Mr. Medina also wanted to thank the previous Chairman, Michael Bailey for his services, "I want to thank Michael for his contribution to football in Brisbane which has spanned over a long period and for being President/Chairman over two terms. He’s an ardent advocate for the numerous volunteers at our clubs and a passionate supporter of our referees.”
