Football Brisbane Welcomes Dan Birrell to Role of Competitions Manager


Football Brisbane would like to welcome Dan Birrell to the organisation as Football Brisbane's new Competitions Manager, commencing Monday 14 January. Mr Birrell comes to Football Brisbane having previously spent the last few years with Queensland Rugby Union, first within development before moving into competitions and administration; primarily overseeing all of Queensland Country Rugby Union competitions, rules, policies, governance and disciplinary. On accepting the role at one of the largest sporting zones in the country, Dan said, "I'm looking forward to a new challenge and the opportunity at Football Brisbane." He added, "I'm interested in quickly getting to know all the competitions within the zone and all the people involved in the game locally. I'm looking forward to getting to know all the clubs that compete under the Football Brisbane banner." Mr Birrell finished by saying, "I'm excited to get to understand the structure of how the organisation operates and also keen to bring some new ideas and creativity to the table, as well as working to bring the best solutions and outcomes to our clubs." Football Brisbane General Manager Rafe Griffin said of the appointment, "Dan demonstrated a strong level of experience that we were looking for to fill the role and he will bring a lot of enthusiasm and passion to the position and a good level of communication."
