Close to $1 million in grant funding to Brisbane based clubs has been approved under the recent round of the Get Playing Places and Spaces (Facilities) funding program from the QLD Govt Minister for Sport, as part of a total funding spend of over $1.8 million across the state. In what is a massive show of confidence and a welcome boost in funding for the game in Queensland, the figure represents approximately 12% of total State Government grants under the facilities improvement plan, which covers a number of sports. The appointment by Football Queensland and Football Brisbane of Infrastructure and Government Relations Officers David O'Leary and Phil Reeves, has helped boost the grant application process for clubs. Albany Creek Excelsior FC, Annerley FC, Brisbane City FC, Clairvaux FC, North Brisbane FC, Park Ridge FC and Peninsula Power FC all benefited from the latest round of funding that helps with the cost of improvements to club facilities, up to a total of $150,000.

Football Brisbane General Manager Rafe Griffin said of the funding, "It's a superb outcome for the game, both in our zone as well as the state."
He added, "It's also a wonderful result for our clubs who have secured funding, to assist with the improvement and enhancement of their facilities and thus in turn, providing a more pleasurable player experience for our members."
