Mt Franklin Brisbane Women's Premier League Expansion 2019

2019 will see a new look Mt Franklin Brisbane Women's Premier League with the competition expanding to include four teams from Football Gold Coast's Women's Premier League. The top six teams from this season's Mt Franklin Brisbane Women's Premier League will be joined by promoted sides The Lakes FC and Taringa Rovers from the Hart Sport Women's Capital League and the following sides from the Gold Coast - Broadbeach Utd, Robina City, Southport and Coomera; making up a 12 team competition next season. Football Brisbane General Manager Craig Morris said of the expansion, "We have worked collaboratively with both Football Gold Coast, Football Queensland and the clubs involved to ensure that women’s football across the two zones is sustainable for the foreseeable future. I thank all those who worked to make this happen and provided their feedback, it really has been such a positive process." He was joined by Football Gold Coast General Manager Damien Bresic by adding, "Women’s football on the Coast had been in need of a spark and this new competition should provide just that. It is pleasing to see that the zones working together for the benefit of the game." The decision was made to enhance the quality of the competition and provide an exciting and challenging league for all competing teams in 2019. Mr Morris concluded, "I know that the standard of competition will be very high but I also anticipate that it will be highly competitive, which is always our priority. I am very excited by the addition of the Gold Coast teams and cannot wait for the competition to begin."
