Government Liaison Consultants Partnership Announced

Government Liaison consultants Phil Reeves (L) and David O'Leary (R).

Football Brisbane is pleased to announce its partnership with former Queensland State MP Phil Reeves and former AFL Queensland facilities and infrastructure Manager David O'Leary as Government Liaison consultants. Football Brisbane will work closely with the duo to help both the zone and its member clubs identify grant and funding opportunities to assist with the growth of clubs and the improvement of facilities which can enhance the development of the game within the region. Under the banner of Community Sports Management, both Reeves and O'Leary come with a wealth of experience in working with various levels of governance across the state. Reeves served as Member for Mansfield for 14 years from 1998 and was the QLD State Minister for Sport and Minister for Child Safety between 2009–2012. O’Leary is a former facilities and infrastructure manager at AFL Queensland, who has also worked for the Department of Sport and Recreation for 20 years. He has an extensive background in football as both a player and administrator and was Ipswich Knights FC's first life member. Football Brisbane General Manager Craig Morris said, "This is a vital element to our Strategic Plan in assisting our clubs in securing the funding they need to help improve their facilities and in turn, develop the game at the grassroots level." "It can be a huge challenge to clubs and organisations who, heavily reliant on volunteers, at times struggle with the complexities of grant applications, with many clubs unaware of what funding is actually available to them." He added, "By partnering with Community Sports Management, the process of grant applications and funding can be greater utilised by our member clubs." Football Brisbane will provide further information to clubs in the near future.
