FFA Cup Brisbane Zone Round 3 Draw

The FFA Cup Preliminary RD3 draw for the Brisbane Zone was made earlier today and has yet again come up with some interesting encounters amongst the 14 ties that were drawn. The 17 Preliminary RD2 winners went into the FFA Cup bowl, joined by the 10 sides that received a bye to RD3. Ipswich City and Park Ridge, who's tie had to be rescheduled due to a waterlogged pitch, were also in the pot to determine who the winner will face next round. Three of this season's Flight Centre Brisbane Premier League sides who played in RD2 were all defeated by lower division opponents and they will be joined by at least one more when Virginia Utd host North Pine. The Gap face a tricky away visit to St George Willawong at St George's Park where the hosts netted 12 goals against Springfield Utd to progress to RD3, whilst Bayside Utd will await the winner from that remaining RD2 tie between Ipswich City and Park Ridge.

Mt Gravatt are the only other Flight Centre Brisbane Premier League to face an away outing when they head to Pine Hills in what could also prove to be a tricky road trip. Six Viva Capital League 3 sides will feature in RD3 with perhaps the toughest encounter reserved for Bethania Rams who will face Flight Centre Brisbane Premier League outfit Albany Creek at Wolter Park. Fellow Viva Capital League 3 side Ridge Hill Utd, who needed a penalty shootout to get past new club Logan Roos, will host UQFC and at least one of the Viva Capital League 3 sides will progress to RD4 with Logan City Kings and The Lakes, both of whom knocked out higher division opposition to reach the next round, will face each other.

Giant killers Samford Rangers, who dumped out Taringa Rovers in the buggest shock from RD2, will head to newcomers Brisbane Athletic who triumphed over Newmarket in their first ever FFA Cup encounter.
