Football Brisbane has delivered on strategic priorities set by its board, increasing the level of service and support provided to clubs and members with the appointment of three new members of staff to the organisation. For the first time, Football Brisbane possesses Regional Directors of Coaching who will be supporting our clubs and their coaches to improve the standard of coaching and player development at the grassroots level. Former FNQ Heat Head Coach Martin Docherty joins the Football Brisbane team along with Kerry Hammersley, who has previously worked in coach education at Football Federation Victoria and whom helped develop and write FFA's Club Coach Coordinator manual. "For many grassroots clubs, and in particular at the younger age groups, it's often mums or dads who are called upon to coach their child's team and it's at these levels where we plan to support those coaches with improved sessions and structure." Martin said. He added, "It is in fact more important at the grassroots level than any other level to provide the support and education for our clubs and coaches as this improves the standard overall, as well as helping with both player and coach retention because hopefully they've enjoyed the experience over the season and want to return as opposed to leaving the game as a result of a bad experience or having felt unsupported by their clubs." Kerry emphasises this sentiment, "We don't want to lose players to the game because of poor standards of coaching." She adds, 'By supporting our clubs and coaches it helps keep players in the game which is a win-win." A three year objective is to see all Brisbane based grassroots coaches involved in the game accredited with a Grassroots Coaching Certificate and possessing the tools and knowledge to continue on in the game whilst further developing their coaching journey. In addition to Martin and Kerry; Cameron Tincknell joins Football Brisbane as a Competition Administrator. Cameron has previous experience as Operations Manager with Touch Rugby League Australia, having had a very hands-on role with the organisation.

His experience with running social sport will be utilised when Football Brisbane moves to its new facilities at Logan in the coming months. We welcome all three to the Football Brisbane team.
