Update on 2018 Capital Leagues Structures
Football Brisbane wishes to provide an update on developments in the Capital Leagues structures.
In December 2017, Football Brisbane was advised by Pine Rivers United Sports Club of the intention for the club to be placed into liquidation. That club serviced a number of sports of which football was one of those.
As a result of this situation, a new fully-incorporated and football-specific club was created - Pine Rivers Athletic Football Club.
The new entity, with a new committee, have been working closely with Football Brisbane and Moreton Bay Regional Council and has the full support of both organisations.
Football Brisbane recently met with Pine Rivers Athletic who advised that they are unable to meet their obligations in fielding a Capital League side for the 2018 season. The club will instead consolidate and priortise existing women’s and juniors programs.
With the withdrawal of Pine Rivers Athletic, Football Brisbane has used the ranking system, determined after the restructure of the NPL and the establishment of the FQPL and consistent with the 2017 Rules of Competition, to determine the club to take Pine Rivers Athletic’s spot. This resulted in Park Ridge being offered a place in 2018 Capital League 1. Park Ridge have accepted this offer and the following clubs will compete in Capital 1 for the upcoming season.
North Star
Moggill
Ipswich City
Annerley
Toowong
Western Spirit
New Farm United
Pine Hills
Oxley United
Caboolture
St George Willawong
Park Ridge
This also meant a vacant spot for 2018’s Capital League 2. Under the ranking system, Jimboomba United were next in line to enter Capital League 2 but declined this offer. Kangaroo Point Rovers were subsequently offered the spot as the next highest ranked team and have accepted this offer. As a consequence, the teams competing in Capital League 2 will be:
AC Carina
Westside-Grovely
Bardon Latrobe
Newmarket
Redcliffe PCYC
Slacks Creek
Tarragindi Tigers

Narangba United
Samford

The teams in Capital League 3 are:
