2017 Gala Awards

Women's and Men's Gold Medal recipients - Pine Hills FC's Laura Dunne and Eastern Suburbs Jordan Farina.

Monday night saw the gathering of Brisbane’s football community for the annual night of nights with the 2017 Football Brisbane Gala Awards; honouring clubs, players, officials and volunteers for their efforts and successes throughout the 2017 season. Held at the Royal International Convention Centre, close to 500 guests got to mingle and celebrate the 2017 season. The two major awards of the season were presented towards the end of the night with the announcement of the Mt Franklin Women’s Premier League and Flight Centre Premier League Players of the Year. In a very tight points tally, Pine Hills FC’s Laura Dunne was presented with the Women’s Gold Medal as the Pythons made it back to back Gold Medal winners following Fern Doyle’s award in 2016. The Men’s Gold Medal was awarded to Eastern Suburbs striker and captain Jordan Farina. Despite an up and down season for the Tigers, Farina has been one of the most consistent players throughout the Flight Centre Premier League this year and this was reflected in the votes received from the coach and captains from each of the clubs during each round of competition. The President’s Award was presented to highly respected local icon Ian Dalzell who received a standing ovation from the room upon announcement of his name from Football Brisbane President, Brendon Boss.
