Mt Franklin Women's Premier League Preview - Semi Finals

It seems as if time has stood still waiting for the finals series as Mitchelton ran away with the league. But they aren’t in the Grand Final… Capalaba are. They have a second chance.

On with the show…

Mitchelton vs Annerley Saturday 4.30pm at Teralba Park. Mitchelton must have feared that Capalaba were getting closer to them when they played them in the league but they still won that game by a comfortable two goal margin. The wheels can’t fall off that quickly after such a dominating season and they will be short priced favourites to follow the Bulldogs into the 'big game' even if they don’t play to the best of their ability. Amid all the hullabaloo, it needs to be remembered that they are still the number one team in the competition and the odds of losing back to back games are immense. Annerley snuck in the back door while everyone was watching the main game and produced arguably an even bigger upset when they beat an in-form Peninsula 2-0 at Elder Oval. A sense of under-achievement dogged them all season because they have an excellent squad with plenty of goal-scoring talent and for a while looked as if they might miss the finals altogether. But they didn’t and now they are one game from a Grand Final with memories of a thrilling win sure to add to their motivation. It’s impossible to tip against Mitchelton with such a dominant record. Annerley will need to stay with them, or preferably get into the lead, for as long as possible if they are to achieve a memorable second finals win in a row.

Prediction: Mitchelton 3-1
