On with the show...
Eastern Suburbs vs Logan Lightning Saturday 7pm at Heath Park
Eastern Suburbs are relying on hope at the moment, and even that won't be enough if they don't win this game. Last weekend they travelled to Cornubia Park and left with a narrow 3-2 loss so it's definitely possible to reserve that result. If they miss the finals, which seems likely, they'll look back to the two draws against Virginia United as one of the reasons.
Logan Lightning continue to fly high in third place with a string of narrow wins to their name so they would surely like to put a game beyond doubt well before full time. Last weekend's win over the same opposition obviously gives them the edge but it's no fait accompli, They can't wrap up a finals spot just yet but three points here and a win over Pine Hills next week will do the trick.
There's definitely something to be had for both teams. No runaway winners in this one, and no winners either. Prediction: 2-2 draw.
The Gap vs Mitchelton
Sunday 6pm at Walton Bridge Reserve The Gap are a team in terrible form, They can mathematically still make the finals but losing last week at home to Virginia made it certain they won't because now they have to do what no other team has done in the league... not lose to Mitchelton. It's a disappointing end because they promised a lot but just couldn't regularly find the target. They'll be defending the whole time. Mitchelton are the senior team of the season in any grade. Their record speaks for itself. What more is there to say? Even in a ten team league, winning every game is a rare achievement and they aren't there just yet. It's a challenge in itself leading up to the end of season finals. They'll get it. Mitchelton will have little trouble winning this game just like every other league game. Prediction: Mitchelton 4-0.
