Flight Centre Premier League Weekly Preview - Catch-up Round

Two catch-up Flight Centre Premier League games could (and probably will) have a big part to play in the destination of the title whilst the Westfield FFA Cup takes some of the limelight away from these games. On with the show... Albany Creek vs Mitchelton Friday 8:30pm at Wolter Park Albany Creek haven’t had a more important game this year at a time when they probably would like to take a breath and re-group after back to back losses. It’s worth noting however that those games were also against decent opposition. Still, a loss is a loss and there is no room for excuses if the title is the target. If they can regain their best form however, they’ll jump back into fourth place. Mitchelton have held the best hand for ages because of the two catchup games, both eminently winnable, being a potential pair of aces. It’s time to convert them into points which is going to be much harder than they would like up at Wolter Park. More than anything, the title will still be in their hands because both Easts and Lions have a considerably better goal margin. The importance of this game in relation to the top three can’t be understated. ACE have everything to play for as well. Mustangs will be too good. Prediction: Mitchelton 3-1

Logan Lightning vs Rochedale Rovers Saturday 6pm at Cornubia Park Logan Lightning are out of the Flight Centre Premier League race and won’t make the semi-finals despite playing some fantastic football including the stunning win over Brisbane City at Spencer Park. Form has completely deserted them but this game is one of the most important on the agenda no matter where they are on the ladder. Having not won away all year they’ll be happy to play this derby at home. Rochedale Rovers were in front twice but coughed up two points to Holland Park Hawks at Underwood Park last Sunday. It keeps them in the race and any points against HPH will be hard to come by so a draw is nothing to be sniffed at. Lewis Cameron’s availability is a big bonus because they weren’t the same team without him. Bad Rovers can win this game; good Rovers will win easily. Being at Cornubia Park means this match will be a contest but Logan are in a big heap at the moment with only pride on the line. Prediction: Rovers 3-1
