Football Brisbane Continues Live Westfield FFA Cup Coverage
After an overwhelming reception to live streaming of Preliminary RD5 of the Westfield FFA Cup, Football Brisbane will continue its coverage of the competition with three RD6 matches and both RD7 matches to be broadcast live via Facebook.
Over 40,000 viewers watched Football Brisbane’s coverage where Moreton Bay defeated Albany Creek, Rochedale pulled off another remarkable Underwood Park cup result against the Brisbane Strikers while Peninsula Power ended Brisbane Knights’ giant-killing run.
Football Brisbane Operations Manager and lead commentator Rafe Griffin was stunned by the reception from the football community, “The outcomes and feedback we received from our broadcasts went beyond even our wildest expectations. I’m sure the participating clubs enjoyed the exposure that was given to them and it just goes to prove how the public has embraced the Westfield FFA Cup and what a popular competition it has become in such a short time frame.”
The eight sides through to round six are just two wins away from reaching the round of 32. Of this group, only Olympic FC and Redlands United have reached this stage previously. With those sides clashing in this round, it will mean that there will be at least one new club that will make an appearance on the national stage for the first time.
Featured in the next round for broadcast will be the only Flight Centre Premier League vs Playstation 4 NPL Queensland match-up with the up-and-coming Holland Park Hawks hosting 2015 PS4 NPL Queensland Premiers, Moreton Bay United. The winner will progress to round seven for the first time in the competition’s history.
On the same night, current Flight Centre Premier League leaders Rochedale Rovers will make the trip northside to face Grange Thistle who sit at the other end of the table. This match will not be live broadcast but highlights will be available within 24 hours on Football Brisbane’s Facebook page.
The following week will see both matches live streamed. Firstly on Tuesday night, another all Flight Centre Premier League match-up between Peninsula Power and Logan Lightning and on Wednesday night the 2013 PS4 NPL Queensland Champions Olympic FC will attempt to keep their cup campaign alive against the 2016 Champions Redlands United.
