Works Underway At Football Brisbane's New Home

At first appearances it may not look like much, but recently work got underway on the Logan Metro Sports Park as the fields were being prepared to be laid and grass sown in the coming weeks. It’s proposed the ‘Home of Football’ for Football Brisbane will be completed towards the end of the year with the fields ready before then. Football Brisbane President Brendon Boss was present at the recent launch of the works. He was excited at seeing the first stages of construction underway, “It’s always exciting seeing plans and discussing things but to see pegs in the ground and the scale of it all is fantastic.” Asked why the location of Logan was chosen he replied, “There’s a real need in our sport for infrastructure as there's a lack of it. We had a five year plan to find a location for our offices and also fields we could manage and not have to hire, which is at added cost to the organisation. This in turn would provide us the ability to hold development programs and to invite teams from interstate for competitions.” He added, “Logan City Council displayed how progressive they are as a council with sport a real key to their future plans for the region. It’s a great opportunity for Logan City with the venue bringing in people from interstate and internationally too.” He also reiterated the need for such facilities across the state, “We’d like to see facilities such as this popping up all over the state but obviously Logan are leading the way and being the first ones to build it.”

Ground works have begun at the Logan Metro Sports Park at Heritage Park. Mayor of Logan City Council Luke Smith was also present at the launch and echoed the excitement surrounding the construction commencing and the prospects ahead, “Seeing pads being laid and soil being turned is quite exciting.” He added, “We’re looking forward to seeing this become the home for Football Brisbane. We’re looking forward to the precinct becoming the home of football in the region and also for Logan becoming the home of sport in Queensland.”
