Eagles FC Join Football Brisbane
Football Brisbane has welcomed it's newest club to the zone with the newly formed Eagles FC becoming the latest club to affiliate with the organisation. Eagles FC has been formed from the already existing infrastructure at the Eagles Sports Complex at Mansfield, located close to the Gateway Motorway; which begun life as the Mt Gravatt Sports and Recreation Club in the 1960's, catering for Baseball and Hockey.
Just over three years ago, with grant funding, an indoor stadium was built and the centre was expanded to cater for both indoor and outdoor sports, including football. The club boasts two floodlit full size fields with a third field set for lighting to be put in later in the year. Centre Manager Gary Greenwood explained, "The centre has been catering for various clubs from different football competitions for a while and it was felt that by affiliating with Football Brisbane the club can attract players to join Eagles FC and compete in more professionally run competitions as the club grows." With large player numbers around the local area, Eagles FC are offering another club option to players from around a region that is expanding with the growth of the game and also recent residential development nearby. The club plans to field Aldi MiniRoos through to Seniors and is looking for new players to register with them.
Mr Greenwood added, "We're offering a competitive registration fee to players who are interested in playing at Eagles FC, to help build the player base at this early stage of the club's existence."
