Football Brisbane response to PS4 NPL/QPL Structures
Football Brisbane notes the recent release by Football Queensland of the PlayStation4 National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland and Queensland Premier League (QPL) structures for 2018 and beyond. We have welcomed the opportunity of being consulted during the review process that Football Queensland undertook leading into the announcement.
The announced structure has led to speculation of the impact on Football Brisbane’s competitions, most notably the Flight Centre Premier League. Football Brisbane expects that applications for the PS4 NPL Queensland and the QPL will be made by current Premier League clubs and potentially Capital Leagues clubs. It is highly likely that the majority of applications accepted into the new structure will potentially come from current Football Brisbane clubs due to our number of clubs and player population. This will have impacts primarily on the Flight Centre Premier League, Capital Leagues and FC11 Super Youth League structures going forward.
Until a formal announcement is made by Football Queensland in early May, Football Brisbane is unable to release our competition structures for 2018 and beyond. The Football Brisbane Board and Management Group will continue to work closely with Football Queensland during the application process to ensure our clubs have appropriate planning time for the 2018 season. We will also work with clubs during this process to ensure they are informed of the latest developments.
