Last Friday, long-time Football Brisbane employee Allan Eedy closed the office door behind him for the final time.
A part of the furniture since the organisation came into being in 2007, Allan has decided to retire. In recognition of his efforts over such a long period, he was awarded the President's Award at the recent Gala Awards Dinner for his services to the organisation. Allan won’t be entirely lost to the football scene however, as he will still travel around the grounds continuing as a referee.
On behalf of Football Brisbane, we wish him an enjoyable and relaxing retirement. As one departs, some new and familiar faces have come on board...

Pictured left to right: Rafe Griffin (Operations Manager), Roger Hunter (Competition Administrator), Sean McKay (FB Media TV) and Karyn Longbottom (Competitions Manager).
A familiar voice to many as commentator for FB Media TV as well as his occasional Fox Sports excursions, Rafe Griffin has moved into the role of Operations Manager.
Rafe will have overall responsibility of FB Media, the accounts department, commercial activities including sponsorships, and tours. After 20 years in the public service, his project management skills will be utilised with Football Brisbane's move to the Logan Metro Sports Complex during the second half of 2017. Former Junior Competition Administrator Karyn Longbottom has returned to the organisation as Competitions Manager.
As part of a restructure of the Competitions Department, Football Brisbane's Competitions Administrators will no longer have responsibility for any one competition segment but instead work across all competitions.
Therefore, all correspondence relating to competitions is to be forwarded in the initial instance to: competitions@footballbrisbane.com.au
From there, enquiries will be distributed by a ticketing system to the relevant person with resolution times aimed to be within two business days. With Allan’s departure, Roger Hunter has joined as a Competition Administrator.
Roger brings to the role experience having been heavily involved in the 2015 AFC Asian Cup in Brisbane, as well as playing and coaching stints here and back in his native UK. Sean McKay, our camera operator for the previous two years, has accepted a full time position; extending his role with video editing being added to his bow.
With Football Brisbane planning to increase its media coverage in 2017, this position will be valuable in providing these additional services to our clubs and members.
