Football Brisbane is pleased to announce the structure of the 2017 Under 16 FC11 Super Youth League competition.
During this transitional year from Flight Centre Premier League to FC11 Super Youth League, the decision has been made to implement a sixteen team competition which will feature teams from the following clubs:
Albany Creek
Brisbane Force
Capalaba
Eastern Suburbs
Grange Thistle
Holland Park
Ipswich Knights
Lions FC
Logan Lightning
Mitchelton
Narangba
Peninsula Power
Pine Hills
Rochedale Rovers
Souths United
Wolves FC
When making this determination, the following was considered:
12 clubs were operating under the expectation of having an U16 team in the Flight Centre Premier League and those clubs needed to be a part of the new competition.
Pine Hills and Brisbane Force finished in league positions that would have retained their status in the highest level in the following season.
Wolves and Narangba Utd finished first and second respectively and gained promotion to the highest level based on their finishing positions.
The format of this competition will see all teams play each other once in the first round (15 matches) and then split into two pools of 8 teams (7 Matches) in a Premiership and Plate league, each having its own finals series; giving a total of 22 league matches in total. The calendar was also a consideration in the decision making process, a fourteen team competition would have meant 26 matches and was not a viable option. Football Brisbane feels that this competition will be competitive and that all teams have earned the right to be a part of this league based on the reasons outlined above. The Under 16 FC11 Super Youth League will return to a promotion and relegation based competition in the 2018 season, based on the final outcome of the 2017 Under 15 FC11 Super Youth League and Under 15 Division 1 competitions.
