Capital Leagues & Canale Cup Final Preview
Canale Cup Final Mitchelton vs Capalaba Saturday 4.30pm @ Walton Bridge Reserve Mitchelton couldn’t really come into this game in better shape with a dominant 5-0 win over Logan FC at Cornubia Park rounding off the season proper. Josh McVey scored a hat trick which is also very handy timing with Ben Njie expected to be missing from the line-up. They will definitely be at restrictive odds before the game kicks off so all it takes is playing well and sticking to the game plan. Capalaba promised so much yet missed the finals series but have a great chance of taking some silverware, surely something they would prefer. Forget the last game because the core of the team was rested. They are good enough to beat anyone when they play well, but if they aren’t at the top of their game it could be a tough afternoon. Of course, Ahamad Azzawi is capable of winning a game all on his own. The Bulldogs are the underdogs and whilst it could be a tight game, if the Mustangs score first it will be a mountain to climb. Prediction: Mitchelton 2-0 FCPL Select v Brisbane Roar Saturday 7.30pm @ QSAC Stadium
FREE ENTRY - Gates open 6.30pm. Previewing a game like this is near impossible, but it will be a big event, particularly for the Flight Centre Premier League representative team. Unfortunately, Jason Shade, Ben Njie and Ahamad Azzawi have cup commitments and will be unavailable but it’s still a handy squad featuring some fantastic import players which many have been looking forward to see gathered together for a game against A-League opposition. As an added advantage, with most of the readers of this site following the Brisbane Roar, it’s a good opportunity to have a look at what’s happening with the most successful club in A-League history. The only thing that can be predicted from this game is a likelihood of plenty of goals. Our boys can do it. Prediction: FCPL Select 3-2 Capital League 2 Pine Hills play Acacia Ridge in a catch-up game which has absolutely no bearing on anything and the away team will win. Capital League 4 Logan Metro round off a season which had it’s ups and downs but is likely to finish with a heavy defeat when they play promoted Caboolture who could be Premiers with a win. North Brisbane play their final game at home against Logan City Kings and will finish sixth regardless of the outcome. Samford Rangers will be tuning up for the finals and can cost St George Willawong the title if they win at Samford Parklands but perhaps now unable to be promoted, Rangers may rest players with any niggles and any sitting close to a suspension. Logan Village will escape the wooden spoon if they get at least a point against Kangaroo Point Rovers at Big River Country Park. Springfield United will round of the season if they can hand the wooden spoon to Brighton Bulldogs with a win at Woodcrest College. Deception Bay will surely be aiming at promotion next season and will finish fifth if they beat Greenbank at Progress Park. Bethania have the bye and will finish 4th
