Brisbane Roar v FB Select side
The squad has been announced for the upcoming Brisbane Roar pre-season fixture versus a Football Brisbane Flight Centre Premier League Select side. The match will be one of three pre-season fixtures for the Roar being played in Brisbane before the start of the Hyundai A-League season on October 7. The Football Brisbane Select side will consist of 22 of the best Under 25 year old players from across the Flight Centre Premier League, with 11 playing the 1st half before being replaced by the remaining 11 players for the 2nd half. The squad has been selected and is being coached by Lions FC Premiership winning coach and former Hyundai A-League player Warren Moon. “This game is a great showcase for the FCPL, not only for the players but for coaches to test themselves against quality A-league opposition and it’s something exciting to be involved in," Moon said. "We also want to give the Roar a good hit out as a part of their preparation for the upcoming season. We won't be too focused on the result but we will be looking at putting on a good competitive performance." "If anyone can impress the watching eyes from the Roar staff then that is obviously a bonus." The Elaine Watson Cup and Canale Cup Finals at The Gap were taken into account when scheduling a Saturday evening kick-off to negate any conflicting fixtures. Football Brisbane General Manager Craig Morris says the match will provide a thrilling experience for the select side, playing against Queensland’s sole top-division side on a first-class surface at QSAC. Mr Morris was also pleased to announce a partnership with NAB for the Football Brisbane Select side for this exciting game. Admission to the event will be FREE for all spectators with car parking available at QSAC. Gates open at 6.30pm with kick-off scheduled for 7.30pm.
