Capital Leagues Weekend Wrap

The Best Bits:

CL1 PROMOTION: Souths United became the first team back into the Flight Centre Premier League, three years after they were relegated, when they were promoted as Premiers following their 3-1 win over Taringa Rovers at Jack Speare Park. Harun Omerovic, Sasa Radulovic and Josh Anderson scored the goals for United. A localised torrential downpour forced the vital game between Grange Thistle and Southside Eagles to be postponed, with it rescheduled for this Thursday. With North Star defeating Moggill FC 6-1, Thistle will be promoted if they win the re-match but hope looks gone for SSE who need to win by eleven goals. North Star will be promoted with a win or draw from Southside Eagles. CL1 RELEGATION: Mt Gravatt stayed up on the last day of the season, having been in the bottom two for the entire season, when they thrashed already relegated Pine Rivers United 6-0 at Dittmer Park That result came at a cost however for Centenary Stormers who ultimately fell short and were relegated following their 4-2 loss to Wolves FC at Carmichael Park. CL2 PROMOTION: Acacia Ridge made it a '3-peat' with promotions, with a game in hand, when they beat Oxley United 4-0 at Dunlop Park and will join The Gap in CL1. Brisbane Force kept themselves alive when they beat New Farm United 4-0 on Friday, but Annerley wrote themselves out of the equation with an upset 2-0 loss to Park Ridge. CL2 RELEGATION: As per the promotion race, Park Ridge escaped on the last day of the season and condemned Slacks Creek to the drop after they lost 4-0 to The Gap at Walton Bridge Reserve. Both Pine Hills and Ipswich City avoided relegation on the last day. CL3 PROMOTION: Virginia United put their supporters out of their misery and were promoted as Premiers after beating Bardon Latrobe 5-0 at Bowman Park. Toowong also went up to CL2 after their final game defeat of Newmarket at McCook Park, something which will be a massive relief and redemption for just missing out in 2015. CL3 RELEGATION: Mooroondu will join Ridge Hills United in Capital League 4 next season after they were beaten 4-2 by Jimboomba United at William Taylor Sports Field. CL4 PROMOTION: St George Willawong did enough to beat Deception Bay 4-1 and were promoted to CL3 alongside Caboolture who put eleven goals past Logan Village at Grant Rd. The Other Bits: CL1: Bayside United finished their campaign with a dominant 4-0 won over Brisbane Knights at Don Randall Oval. CL2: Ipswich City finished one point ahead of Slacks Creek after they were beaten 4-0 by Pine Hills at Sutton Park. CL2: Western Spirit rounded off their year with a 2-1 win over Redcliffe PCYC at Kippen Park. CL3: AC Carina handed fourth spot to Jimboomba United when they were beaten 4-2 by Westside at The Brisbane Abruzzo Club. CL3: Clairvaux finished their season on a high with a 3-1 win over Narangba United at Clairvaux MacKillop College. CL3: Tarragindi Tigers missed promotion but finished third despite drawing 2-2 with Ridge Hills United at Esher Park. CL4: Greenbank picked up a surprise win, 3-2 over Logan Metro at Barry Whyte Field. CL4: Springfield United added another point to their debut season tally when they drew 2-2 with Logan City Kings at Mark Mappas Oval. CL4: Kangaroo Point Rovers and North Brisbane were unable to trouble the scorers when they drew 0-0 at Raymond Park. CL4: An interesting semi-final is on the horizon after Bethania Rams and Samford Rangers drew 5-5 at Opperman Park.
