Mt Franklin Women's Premier League Grand Final Preview
Mitchelton v Annerley
Sunday 18th Sept - 4.30pm @ Underwood Park
Mitchelton have two trophies already on the shelf in 2016 and will be favourites to take a third having convincingly beaten Annerley 3-0 in the Major Semi-Final and 3-1 the previous weekend in the Elaine Watson Cup final. Of all the teams playing in the Grand Final, they are probably the shortest priced favourites to win so a loss would be a major upset. With the best backline in the league and a great spread of goalscorers, fate is in their own hands. If they score early it should be all over. Top Scorer: Gabrielle Brodie
Keep An Eye On: Kate Lutkins Annerley will once again play Mitchelton in a final after a comfortable 3-1 win over Pine Hills in the preliminary final last weekend. It’s a daunting task and with first choice keeper Gemma Layfield absent, it will be tougher still, but there are plenty of positives to draw on. Naturally they know what to expect and know how to set out for the best possible outcome. But Grand Finals are special and if ever an upset is going to rear it’s head, it’s in the last day of the season. If the Stars are to come away with the trophy it may all come down to how they approach the game mentally. Top Scorer: Donna Smith (26)
Keep An Eye On: Emma Simms
