Moreton Bay Utd 3 (Farina 45+5'pen; Fulluck 53', 60') Capalaba Bulldogs 1 (OG (Stewart) 63')

HT 1-0

Played at: Wolter Park

The home side dominated the first half from the outset with Taiga Ishikura in particular causing headaches for the Capalaba defence with his incisive runs down the left side. The visitors perhaps letting the occasion get to them as they looked unsettled for the opening 20 minutes with the game played at a frenetic pace on what was a superb surface at Wolter Park.

Moreton Bay Utd's Taiga Ishikura on another run which Capalaba found hard to contain. Capalaba survived for almost the entire half with Ishikura going closest to opening the scoring on the half hour mark with a jinking run that saw him make space before crashing a shot against the crossbar from 10 yards out. Moments later, Capalaba keeper Sam Chandler reacted well to save at the feet of Fulluck who was cheaply presented with the ball from a poor back pass from the Bulldogs defence and left one on one with Capalaba custodian. With the Bulldogs soaking up the pressure, their best hope was to hit the home side on the counter and they went close shortly before the break when Tim Dunn wasn't quite able to get enough on the ball from a low cross from Sam Watt. His effort falling harmlessly to keeper Matt Stein in the Jets goal.

Capalaba keeper Sam Chandler is sent the wrong way from Jordan Farina's spot kick.

With the half ebbing away and deep into added time as the teams looked set to head to the sheds on level terms, Jets struck.

Another defensive error was pounced on by Ishikura who looked odds-on to score but for another superb effort from Chandler who saved at his feet but was unable to hold onto the ball. Matt Capelo raced onto the loose ball and managed to nudge it on just as Chandler dived at his feet, bringing the Jets player down for what was a straight forward decision for Referee Carl Harper as he pointed to the spot. Jordan Farina stepping up and sending Chandler the wrong way to puts the hosts in front on the stroke of half time. The game was essentially killed off by the hour mark with Fulluck striking twice in 7 minutes. The first coming when Jordan Farina crossed low into the box and Fulluck drilling a low shot on the turn past Chandler. Then on the hour mark Fulluck grabbed his second when he met Capelo's cross with a header that drifted in off the right post. Capalaba had their chances though as they put on a better display in the second term. Sam Watt and the usually reliable Ahamad Azzawi were guilty of wasting a couple of guilt edged opportunities with both players blasting wildly over from good positions with Jets keeper Stein at their mercy. A lifeline was provided midway through the half when a mix up between Stein and Jets skipper Scott Stewart from a goal kick saw Stewart misplace a return ball past Stein and into his own net. The visitors though were unable to rally as they had done in previous recent games as Moreton Bay eventually ran out comfortable winners to progress to Thursday's RD6 draw. Capalaba Coach Geoff Hurford, although disappointed was realistic in his sides performance. "Consistency is something we need to work on" he said. "We never know which Capalaba side is going to turn up and tonight we simply weren't good enough". It was a fair conclusion with Jets deserved winners as they join fellow PlayStation4 National Premier Leagues sides Redlands Utd, Brisbane Strikers and Brisbane City in the final eight along with Flight Centre Premier League sides Lions FC and Rochedale Rovers, as well as Capital League 1 sides Southside Eagles and giant killers Moggill.

FB Media Player of the Match: Taiga Ishikura - Moreton Bay Utd. The Japanese midfielder caused havoc for the Bulldogs and dominated the game in the first half. Contained a little more in the second period but a constant threat throughout.

Referee: Carl Harper
