Aaron Philp Replaces Terry Kirkham At Peninsula

Peninsula Power FC today announced the departure of Terry Kirkham from the club with Kirkham resigning with immediate effect.

Terry Kirkham heads to the technical area in his last game in charge of Peninsula Power last Saturday against Logan FC which ended in a 2-1 defeat for his side.

It is widely thought he is heading to Olympic FC in the PlayStation4 National Premier Leagues but this is yet to be confirmed. In the meantime Power has appointed former player and coach Aaron Philp to the head coach job.

This season, Philp had been assistant coach to Leo Sirianni at Mitchelton, joining the Mustangs at the end of last season after guiding North Pine to promotion to the Flight Centre Premier League from Capital League 1.

Peninsula Power made the official announcement this morning in a media release which stated;

"Peninsula Power FC would like to announce that Head Coach Terry Kirkham tendered his resignation effective immediately. The club would like to thank Terry since his appointment in 2015 and wish him the best moving forward.

Terry has stated that business and coaching opportunities will take him to another position in football.

The players have confirmed their desire to continue the success at the club for the 2016 Flight Centre Premier League season."

Power made a later statement confirming the appointment of Philp;

"The Peninsula Power Football Club is pleased to announce the return of former player Aaron Philp as the senior coach for the remainder of the season.

Aaron Philp's pride and passion for the club had brought success as a player and coach with over 25 years involvement for the Peninsula club and looks forward to leading the club he represented for so many years.

Club President Craig Feuerriegel says, "Aaron Philp's appointment as the club's senior coach will allow the club to remain strong and fiercely competitive in the Flight Centre Premier League." He added, "We are on an exciting journey and with the backing of the players, support staff, members, sponsors and supporters, we look forward to a successful season."
