Procedures for Souths United Synthetic Turf Pitches

Procedures for use of new FIFA Approved Synthetic Football Turf Pitches - Fields 2, 3 and 4. The below maps of the new fields show the access points for the various fields as marked.

Access to Fields 2, 3 and 4 for team officials, players and referees for the next few weeks will only be via the gate near Field 5. This is because the spectator areas on the western sides of Fields 2 and 4 and the eastern areas of Fields 2 and 3 have been hydroseeded and we need to wait for the grass to take hold before using the areas.

We apologise for this inconvenience to players, referees and spectators. Unfortunately this will also mean that there is quite limited viewing areas for spectators until these areas are opened up in a few weeks. For Field 2, the best area will be on the roadside along the goal line area and possibly the eastern area depending on how the hydroseeding is going.

For Fields 3 and 4, the best area is either the eastern or western fences (however this is behind the area that will be for spectators) or on the southern boundary of the fields. We therefore respectfully ask that parents and spectators do not attempt to enter the area but remain outside the perimeter fences as described above. We understand that this is not ideal for spectators but ask your understanding and patience while we wait for the hydroseeding to take hold and provide a more pleasant environment than dirt and mud. To enable the quality of the playing surface to be sustained over the next 10 years, there are some essential rules that players, team officials, parents, spectators and referees must adhere to:

  • Access to Fields 2, 3 and 4 from the clubhouse or carparks will only be via the footpath on Dew Street or via Field 5 NOT across Field 1 (refer attached map). Note change to access in Note above for the month of May.

  • Spectator seating is to be outside the field fences. Chairs, prams etc are NOT permitted inside the field fences. Note change to spectator areas in Note above for the month of May.

  • Seating is not permitted in the access way between Field 2 and Fields 3 & 4. Seating is also not permitted in front of the Equipment Shed, the Goal Post Compound or the Changerooms as this too is a major access way. This landscaping artificial turf can be damaged by chair legs.

  • Moulded soles on football boots are permitted however metal tags are not.

  • Boot wipers are located at each player/referee/team official access point. ALL players/referees/team officials MUST wipe their boots prior to entering the fields ie prior to the game and before the start of the second half AND prior to training. It is highly recommended that all players change into their boots when at the field rather than wear them from the carpark to the fields thus limiting the amount of dirt/mud on the soles.

  • Water is permitted to be taken onto the fields however other drinks and food are not to be taken onto fields nor consumed inside the field fences.

  • Please be careful when entering Field 4 as steps will need to be negotiated.

  • There is to be absolutely no dogs permitted inside the field fences. In fact, Souths is a dog-free zone.

  • Souths is also a smoke free zone except in our 2 carparks therefore smoking is not permitted on or near our fields.

  • Spectators will not be permitted access to the fields.

Football Brisbane has given permission for the Club to switch fixtures between Field 1 and Field 2 throughout the season. Please check at the Clubhouse on game days or on our website a few days prior to game day to check field/changeroom allocations.

Please note that game times will not be affected just field allocation.
